William Herschel discovered Uranus in 1781. He wanted to name it the Georgian Planet. The name would have honored the English king, George III. Astronomers in other countries didn't like the name. They suggested other names. Finally, like the other planets, it was named after a Roman god.
Uranus cannot be seen without a telescope. So, there aren't any stories about the planet. There is a myth related to its name. To the Romans, Uranus was the god of the sky. He was also the father of Saturn. He existed before any other god. Then Gaia, the Earth, came into being. She fell in love with the sky above her. The sky was Uranus. They had 12 children called Titans.
